What the heck, it’s been a while. “Ipsum” is going to be the new default theme for WordPress later this year. They’re getting away from the year-named themes, Twenty Ten through Twenty Twenty-Five, going instead with themes that can change independently of some calendar date.
I usually don’t go with these default themes; I find them quirky, and seemingly dedicated to showing off one or two specific features that I don’t need. But this Ipsum seems fresher because it’s a pure blogging theme, which is just what I need. I’ll want to reconsider how galleries are displayed, but other than that it seems like it’s ready to go.
At least that was the plan. This isn’t ready for prime time yet.
- All the posts have publish dates of three weeks ago
- It doesn’t honor the show-excerpts-only preference
- There are no widgets, except the built-in categories and recent posts lists
I’ll keep it installed and wait for updates before I publish it again.
