We really liked Rotterdam the first time we visited. The novelty has worn off, but still it made for an enjoyable day. The city is still an architectural marvel.
The Market Hall was at the top of the list of things I wanted to visit.
Part of the ceiling of the market hall.
Still, there were a couple of hot-pot joints. That’s an inheritance of the Dutch colonization of parts of Southeast Asia.
Standing by the main entrance looking up at the sky and the enormous ceiling painting.
The Dutch eat more cheese per capita than anyone. Several of the stands had cheese for tasting, and we did. And we bought some.
The painting wraps all around, wall to wall and floor to ceiling.
The weather was still chilly and rainy, the skies overcast. But soon we’d be rewarded with warm, sunny days.
