Taking my sweetie to the airport for her trip, Google Maps had the fastest way to JFK as the New Jersey Turnpike past Newark Airport, across Staten Island, over the Verrazano Narrows Bridge into Brooklyn, past Coney Island, around Jamaica Bay in Queens, and to the airport.
Then at the time of the return trip, the fastest way was up the Grand Central Parkway, past LaGuardia Airport, to the Triboro/RFK Bridge and on across Ward’s Island to the Bronx. Up the Deegan to I-95, across the top of Manhattan and over the George Washington Bridge.
Back down the Turnpike, to I-280 and back home. Almost 100 miles of driving. In or adjacent to all three major airports, and across the three most famous bridges on the east coast.
There are tourists out there who would pay good money for this kind of tour!
Next time I’ll try to fly out of Newark.
