December 12 brought BSO’s second concert, featuring pieces from and about New York City. Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from “On The Town,” Philip Glass’ Saxophone Quartet Concerto; “Hummingbirds” by Michael Viens; and Aaron Copland’s “Quiet City” (with your faithful blogger himself playing the trumpet solo part). The concert was a sell-out.
The first BSO concert was a hit, and we were happy to be back at the Brooklyn Museum playing in front of a live, indoor audience. The concert featured what turned out to be the New York premiere of Florence Foster’s Fourth Symphony.
