Prepping for a trip to Spain this summer, I’ve started to try and learn the language.
It’s supposed to be one of the easier languages to pick up, but it seems to be painfully true what they say about how much easier it is to learn a new one when you’re young.
The things I learned in French class in the mid-sixties are still stuck with me — counting, the alphabet, days of the week and months of the year. But I’ve forgotten the Spanish numerals twice so far just today.
Anyone have any tips?

Cool, where you going?
I know what you mean. I’ve been to 4 different language areas over the years and I always (to my annoyance) revert to German when trying to cope with the language.
I love that city.
Barcelona.
When I’m using the “learn in your car” audiobooks I find myself doing the same thing. The correct response for “gracias” ends up being “um ….. bitte?”
Well send along your restaurant etc. recommendations. We’re going to be staying in El Barri Gòtic.
