Alien Apocalypse

F. and I, driving through the Maryland countryside, witnessed the beginning of the end. Here are the shock troops, in an isolated cornfield on Rt. 550.

The horror becomes clearer when we see their target.

A parade of giant horrors.

Look at the size of them compared to the cars they’ve crushed underfoot.

They’re at least three stories high!

But they’re under assault. Look closely.

No, look closer.

That’s right.

The Lawyers Moonlight Maze in Thurmont, MD, has these guns retrofitted to shoot pumpkins at giant robots made out of scrap. $10 gets you six pumpkins that you load into the air guns and fire away. Like the lucky shot with the fish, I stood there a while until I could get my shutter timed and catch them, so to speak, in mid-flight.

There’s also an oversized teepee with wood fires inside so you can stay warm. Plus refreshments, kiddie rides, pumpkins for sale, and of course, the corn maze (we were wearing good clothes, so we stayed out of the mud.

The folks there were nice enough to let us in for free because we only had a few minutes. I hope my science fiction story drives at least one other family out for a visit!

Find it at 13003 Creagerstown Rd., Thurmont, MD.
