Back to Pyramid Mountain

Following up on our delightful hike up Pyramid Mountain last week, we hit the same park and went up the mountain on the other side of Rt. 511, “Turkey Mountain.”

It was, well, a turkey. We didn’t see a single person for the whole three hours we were out (that’s good), but we did see about three billion mosquitos. We did see this little guy, which LF spotted sitting on a rock next to the trail:
salamander

This is perhaps though unlikely the eastern mud salamander, a threatened species in New Jersey. Or more likely a northern red or northern spring salamander.
