I snapped this on my phonecam out the window of the car, right before we missed our exit and ended up in Virginia Saturday night. After circling back and parking, E. chatted with the guard out front. He was from Chad, and was about a year away from becoming a U.S. Citizen. This guy from the Sahara Desert standing out there in 40-degree weather guarding the Washington Monument. Is this a great country or what?
