Last September, I did a photo trip to the relatively untravelled Maple Falls in South Mountain Reservation. At the time, it was pretty dry and I made a mental note to revisit it in the winter, after the rain and snow caused some more flow. So yesterday the faithful companion (Brandy, the dog) took a walk up to see what was happening.
Indeed, a rainy winter has changed things. The trails themselves are wetter than the actually creek bed was in September and we got our share of mud on our shoes (and paws). But the stream and the falls were pleasantly wet.

And the “view upstream” in the earlier post, where the flow was no more than a wet smear across the rocks, is now strong enough to warrant the bridge that used to be there.
