A Strange Sense of Deja Vu

Flipping through tomorrow’s New York Times Book Review I see reviews of two books that are, uh, less-than-recent. Richard Rhodes’ “Arsenals of Folly,” which I touched on briefly here close to four weeks ago, and John Dean’s “Broken Government,” which has already got a thick layer of dust on it wherever it is I set it down long ago after finishing it.

I had to check the date at the top just to be sure something from recycling hadn’t slipped in. I guess it’s the holiday doldrums?

Or the publishing company of those books greased some palms at the NYT to get those books back on the shelves for Christmas.

  2. Well it’s strange because I read the book review every week, and these are notable releases — Richard Rhodes is a Pulitzer Prize winner and John Dean is, well, John Dean — so I wonder why they hadn’t got to them earlier.
