I was playing with an opera company in the city last night, May 21, and went outside after the second act. I hadn’t noticed that any significant portion of the cast, orchestra or audience disappeared, and the streets seemed pretty much normal.
But then, I was in Manhattan so what did I expect?

The Broadway Bach Ensemble’s May concert is this Sunday, 2 p.m., at the Broadway Presbyterian Church in New York. It’s on the corner of 114th and Broadway, just across from Columbia University.
We’re doing music of Dvorak, Mouret and Canteloube — some of the unbelievably lush “Songs of the Auvergne,” featuring the wonderful soprano Silvie Jensen.
