William F. Buckley

About fifteen years ago a friend had an extra ticket to go see a taping of two episodes of “Firing Line,” Buckley’s talk-show forum which he shared with Michael Kinsley at the time. While my own political views are pretty much the opposite of his, I came away impressed. He was honest, funny — articulate […]

Post-Debate Wrapup

February 27th, 2008 | 0 Comments | Politics |

Wasted an hour-and-a-half watching the Dem debate last night. While we’re waiting for Anthony Cartouche — who was actually there in person — to post his report, this sums it up for me nicely.

Silliest Political Blog Post Ever

February 24th, 2008 | 0 Comments | Politics |

And I’ve read a few. The gist of it — and I’m in no way paraphrasing or simplifying — is that if you take an Obama speech and substitute the phrase “peanut butter” for the words “change” and “hope,” it doesn’t make any sense. No, I’m not kidding. And that this somehow shows that his […]

Things I Saw During The Snowstorm

February 13th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Home |

Legend has it that Eskimos have dozens of different words for snow. The word they have for what came down yesterday must have four letters. I knew to be wary before I even pulled out of my driveway, as someone in an SUV decided to run the red light in front of my house, cutting […]

My VCR Is Obsolete

February 12th, 2008 | 0 Comments | Entertainment |

I used to set my VCR to tape certain TV shows when I had to be out for a rehearsal. Funny how the only shows I like are on the nights I regularly have rehearsals. But — and don’t ask me why it took me so long to figure this out — the last few […]
