Molly Ivins

The great columnist and author died of breast cancer today at the far-too-young age of 62 today. She was smart, fiery, and loaded with common sense. Go out and pick up one of her books if you don’t have some already, or check out some of her columns from the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. She kept […]

Eat Pretzels

Wherever you are in our viewing audience, if you need a quality salty snack check out Martin’s Pretzels. And I’m not just saying that because I just finished re-doing their web site. They make a terrific product, really hard, crunchy and salty.

50 Worst People

January 20th, 2007 | 0 Comments | Comedy, Entertainment, Politics |

Buffalobeast has published his annual “50 Most Loathsome People” list for 2006, and as usual it’s hilariously snarky smackdown of crooks and hypocrites that made the year what it was. Unlike simpleton rants like Bernie Goldberg’s “100 People Who Are Screwing Up America,” which rightfully should be retitled “The 100 Most Prominent Liberals in America, in More-Or-Less Random Order,” the Beast nails candidates on all sides of the political spectrum.

Spring Comes Early These Days

January 16th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Home |

I saw this yesterday, blooming along the walkway to a St. George’s church on Ridgewood here in Maplewood. January 15. No sign that it was a transplant, in fact other daffodils in the front yard were near blooming as well. I have a couple hundred of these early-blooming ones in my yard, and they’ve never bloomed earlier than mid-March. January 15 -- a blooming daffodil

Firefox 2

January 14th, 2007 | 0 Comments | Tech Stuff |

Version 2 of the Firefox web browser was released last month, and has some nice new features. I’ve been using FF for a couple of years now, and only use IE if I absolutely have to. It’s best feature in my opinion is the enhanced control and security you get. No popup hells, for example. […]

Further Thoughts on CubeCart

January 13th, 2007 | 0 Comments | Tech Stuff |

OK, so it doesn’t suck so much. At least it didn’t after I ponied up $29.95 for custom installation and a month’s technical support. There’s nothing worse than having the ISP point their finger at the software vendor, and the software vendor pointing there’s right back at the ISP. What’s a webmaster to do? I […]

At Least I Ain’t Chicken!

January 12th, 2007 | 0 Comments | Politics |

I’ve got no idea what game this is, nor do I want to; but as Kung Fu Monkey puts it, this “video summarizes in two minutes what’s it felt like watching Bush for the last six years.” I’m not geek enough to understand it, but I get it.

Checkbox Widget

Here’s a javascript gizmo that makes checkboxes behave like radio buttons. At least, in IE. It’s late, I’ll make it work in Firefox tomorrow…G’night.

72°

January 6th, 2007 | 0 Comments | Home |

That’s the reading right now in beautiful Maplewood, NJ. According to weather.com, it’s only 68° in Los Angeles. So what did I see today? Convertibles with the top down. Butterflies. A family with small children fishing at Echo Lake, wearing shorts. A long row of cherry trees on my street, in bloom. The park packed […]
