Standing on my front porch this morning, a cardinal and a praying mantis landed simultaneously right in front of me. This is the one that stuck around long enough for me to get a phone-cam photo:

Lots of katydids around. Here’s one on the window of my car. I like how the reflections make it look like I’m growing a garden on the floorboards.

If you can get out to northwestern New Jersey, manage the bad or missing road signs, cope with the closed roads, and handle two miles of pothole-ridden gravel road, you’ll find it easily.

I’m working on redesigning the main part of my site, which is a bigger pain in the neck than I thought it would be because the text is so outdated.
The Browns are hopeless. Three games without a touchdown? Maybe they should be demoted to the Big 10, they could have a shot at playing .500 ball there.
Just so you don’t think this blog is fading away, I’ve had a frenetic couple of days (in a good way, I’m not complaining) that’s kept me from even checking my email. We plan to return to our regularly scheduled agenda of fascinating and stimulating posts very soon.
Sorry. There’s stuff to write about, I just haven’t been doing it.
