I almost missed this: On July 27 it was 30 years since I moved from Ohio to the east coast. I’ve lived in this house in New Jersey for 20 of them — more than twice as long as I’d ever lived anywhere else.
A week or so ago I wrote about some nice work that was being done on my house. I just finished remaking the web site of the outfit who did it for me, Star Painting.

It was amazing and inspiring to see the oases that people have put together in their back yards.

It rained Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Here it is Thursday and thunderstorms are in the forecast for this evening. It’s also scheduled to rain tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. I keep telling myself it’s good for the plants I put in the garden on Saturday. But now I’m thinking they probably like sunlight, too.

Today was the first really, really nice day of the season. A group of monks was marking it by playing a lively game of frisbee in the parking lot and street outside my building.
