Jaded is a spin­off of Waf­fle­ass, a new blog by my middle-school (just to be clear, that’s like 35 years ago when it was still called junior high school) friend Anthony Car­touche (not his real name). He shares edi­to­r­ial respon­si­bil­ity with bram_jafuv. Not only is that not his real name, I have no idea who he actu­ally is. Maybe some day they’ll fill me in, though Anthony might still be pissed off that I briefly outed him here.

Nev­er­the­less, the writ­ing shows signs of being more polit­i­cal and inci­sive than before. bram’s post on the brand-spanking new diag­no­sis of “per­son­al­ity dis­or­der,” as opposed to “post-traumatic stress dis­or­der,” for some newly dis­charged vet­er­ans is very dis­turb­ing. The point is, no vet­er­ans health­care ben­e­fits are avail­able for this “per­son­al­ity dis­or­der.” You know, sup­port our troops and all that.

To quote Rufus T. Fire­fly, “and remem­ber, while you’re out there risk­ing life and limb through shot and shell, we’ll be in here think­ing what a sucker you are!”

Another post briefly touches on the depleted ura­nium issue, some­thing that gets pre­cious lit­tle print time but will in the end be a big­ger prob­lem than agent orange.
