Same Old Microsoft

We’re playing around with the new Windows 8 Tablets here at the shop. Now, it’s shooting fish in a barrel to carp about flaws in a pre-release version, but Sky Drive is an established product that should work. I have it running on two machines here, a Lenovo Win7 laptop that I’ve been using for over a year, and the new Samsung Slate running the Win7/8 hybrid.

Now, when I upload files to Dropbox, they appear there in a jif. But I’m trying to upload a gallery of images to Sky Drive (from the laptop, not the pre-release) and it’s excrutiatingly mindbendingly slow. Why does this remind me of earlier problems I had copying files over a network on my home laptop?

I did the Google thing to see if there were any answers; there weren’t. But this thread was kind of enlightening in a bad sort of way. Turns out lots of people have the same problem, and Microsoft is “working on it.”

What I especially like is the “Was this helpful to you” column, where the only allowable answer is “Yes.” Some things never change.
