Holiday Concert Doubleheader
December 12th, 2009 | 0 Comments | Music |
Sunday, December 13, holds in store back-to-back holiday concerts for your listening pleasure. At 4:00 is the annual Carol Sing at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, on Prospect Street in South Orange. The adult and children’s choirs, plus brass, organ, percussion, harp and flutes, will play about 90 minutes of well-known and not-so-well-known Christmas music.
Maplewood Community Music has its first annual holiday concert at 4:30 at the Burgdorff Cultural Center, 10 Durand Road, Maplewood. The swing band kicks things off with just over an hour’s worth of big-band music. Following them is “Bones Unlimited,” MCM’s trombone quartet. And at around six the Community Band will take the stage.
That’s where I come in. Right after the OLS concert I’ll be shooting over there to conduct the band. This is my first “complete” concert as the musical director of the group, and I like the way things are starting to sound.
Both concerts are free, by the way. So come on out and catch one, or both.
