IE 8

On the sites I monitor, over the last month IE8 is approaching 10% of the Internet Explorer. That’s only going to grow. Meanwhile, that painfully archaic IE6 is showing traffic at three times that.
I’m installing version 8 on a spare laptop I have in the office. Already I’ve seen signs of alignment problems on one of the sites, and I’ll need to look through the rest to see what’s going on.
One quick fix worth trying is, if you’re using conditional comments to bring in special css files for versions of IE, is to update them. That fixed the alignment problem above immediately.
If you’re using sIFR it’s definitely time to update. And even that might not be enough. There are some bad issues with Flash, and the installation part of it doesn’t seem to work. Remember the yellow bar that would appear at the top to alert you that you could allow a software install? Not there anymore. YouTube does not work at all.
