Limos

Sharing the road with limo drivers in New York City has always been a pet peeve of mine.
I’m completely down with cabbies, who are every bit as interested in getting where they’re going in the shortest possible time as I am. In fact, I’ve learned some good tactics from watching them over the years.
Limo drivers on the other hand are a different breed, seemingly bent on sowing confusion and delay wherever they take their Lincoln Town Cars. I don’t know why, but their driving habits are infuriating. They straddle lanes, ride their brakes, don’t signal turns (well, ok, nobody does), and drive maddeningly slowly at all the wrong times. Whenever I see a Lincoln Town Car with the characteristic TLC plates I try to get as far from it as possible. Did I mention they ride their brakes?
Ever since the time I took a “black car” to a press check in Long Island City and the driver excused himself, got out of the car and walked over to the side of a building, and unzipped his …
Never mind.
Last night right after steering around a grouping of stretch limos that were attempting to triple-park in front of PJ Clarke’s across from Lincoln Center, I saw what is surely one of the dreaded Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
They’ve started driving Cadillac Escalades.

“triple park” heh.
NYC needs to either widen the roads or ban cars or a little of both. Or become less crowded/popular.
Yes, but it’s ok because whomever they were driving around was obviously very important.
