My cousin Shari is the bomb. She’s been doing research on one branch of our family, the Lackeys. My great-grandmother was Laura Lackey, daughter of William J. who was, in turn, the son of one Jacob Lackey.
If this turns out to be relevant, it will be because the Jacob Lakey listed about 4/5 of the way down is the same person as my great-great-great grandfather (they were, um, inconsistent in spelling names back then, which is I guess why SOUNDEX was invented).
What does that mean? It means I have a common ancestor with you-know-who, which means we’re cousins.
36th cousins, quite literally, but still.
