Last Weekend of Summer

Sigh. The chilly weather is already rolling in, but we got in one last good weekend at the beach, our new fave destination of Ocean Grove, NJ.

From the balcony at the end of the hallway, we had a really nice view out across the park to the row of Victorians on the other side, and all the way over to the ocean. These kind of reminded me of that famous row of houses in San Francisco across from Alamo Park.

As you can see we were a little less than two blocks from the beach. Between the boardwalk and the sand, there are patches of preserved dunes that add color.

Saturday morning came in pretty windy, with this huge system moving off the coast.

By afternoon, it had gotten nice enough for everyone to start hitting the beach.

Asbury Park, the next town up and a very reasonable walk along the shore, was jumping on Saturday night, including this kite-flyer.

Sunday, the last day of summer, was the best of all. C. and her friend O. drove down for a visit and some dinner. That’s them sitting out on the jetty.

Here’s where you’ll find it (and us, next summer).
